Who can join?

Any parent/guardian/caregiver who is living in the Auckland region is welcome to join for their family. 

Know a member already?

Awesome! You can get $20 off their membership and so can they! Every new member referred by an existing member will get a $20 credit on their account, and $20 for the new member too. Just mention the new member's name to Todd our librarian when you first visit and she will apply the credit. You can refer as many members as you like to get even more credit.

Types of membership

There are six different types of annual subscriptions.
Trial Membership: $60 for 6 months, requiring 1 duty over the 6 month period
Fully Rostered Annual Membership: $100 per year, requiring 3 duties over the year
Partly Rostered Membership: $160 per year, requiring 1 duty over the year
Non Duty Membership: $195 per year with no duties
Grandparent Membership: $50 per year to borrow up to 3 toys at a time, duties welcomed for those that are able
Special Needs Membership: $30 lifetime membership with no duties

Had the best intentions but weren't able to carry out your duties?

No worries, you'll just be charged the difference between fully rostered membership and non duty membership, i.e. $95.00. If you signed up for partly rostered, you’ll be charged the difference between the partly rostered and non duty membership i.e. $35.

Are there any other fees or charges?

Some of our more expensive toys incur an additional fee of $2 per toy for each rental period, and we charge for our party hire equipment. But the vast majority of our toys, including dressups and ride on toys are free to hire for all members. You can place a hold on an item for $1 a toy and we also have a click and collect service for just $1 per toy.

What's involved with a rostered membership?

Rostered members sign up for duties on a day that suits them using our online calendar.  Duties are for two hours on a Friday or Saturday, working alongside the Toy Librarian and usually involve checking and counting toys that members are returning and tidying the shelves. Easy peasy, and our librarian is always there.

Easy. Just fill out a few simple details in our membership form here. You're welcome to come on down to the library on a Friday or Saturday morning to check out our collection and speak to the librarian about any questions you may have. You can also sign up on the spot and take your first toys home that day!

How do I pay for my membership?

Payment can be made by cash in the library, or by internet banking. Sorry, we don't have eftpos! Our bank account number is 12-3216-0127581-00.  Just quote your surname and membership number (found on all communications from the toy library).
